You may see that a water damaged device was woking just fine immediately after spill contact took place. It is quite normal. At this point, water has not worked as a catalyst to produce corrosion neither it has worked as conductor. The scenario will soon change once either or both of the cases begins to take place. As soon as the corrosion begins to build up and spread, or the spill begins to act up as conductor and connects two opposite poles, the device fails or begin to malfunction.

How to protect water damaged device from further damages?

There is a smart way to help slowdown the progress of corrosion or stop water from acting as brutal conductor. In such, I would suggest not to use rice or sack of rice to provide the first aid service. Many people have a false belief that rice would help cure the spill impact. This is a wrong belief so will be its practice. Once device gets water on it, the first thing is to assume that water has already travelled inside. Rice will no longer help to any amount of water that has reached to the internal parts.

The best practice is to turn the device off immediately if it is still on. Than, begin to wipe the device clean with a paper towel or clothes. Try to make it as dry as possible. Then after, use the hair drier’s warm and forceful air to dry out any portion of water inside assuming that it may take up to 15 minutes to dry it up. Hence, keep blowing warm and forceful air for about 15 minutes from every single port possible.
